Every year, the International Day of Charity is observed on 5 September. It highlights the importance of supporting others and shows how much can be achieved when individuals, businesses and organisations combine their knowledge, resources and willingness to help. <\/p>\n\n

Charity is not only about financial donations. It can also take the form of volunteering, sharing professional expertise, corporate involvement, raising awareness or simply sharing an organisation\u2019s message. Each of these forms of support can become an important part of a greater collective effort. <\/p>\n\n

Every day, Ronald McDonald M\u0101ja Latvij\u0101 turns this support into practical assistance for children and their families. With the Children\u2019s Care Mobile, we travel to towns and communities across Latvia to provide children with free medical consultations closer to home. <\/p>\n\n

Healthcare Closer to Children’s Homes<\/h2>\n\n

Not all families have easy access to the medical specialists their children need. Travelling to an appointment in Riga or another major city can take considerable time and involve travel expenses, and may require parents to take time off work. For families living farther from regional centres, these barriers may result in postponed health examinations. <\/p>\n\n

The Children\u2019s Care Mobile is a specially equipped mobile healthcare centre that travels closer to children. During its visits, consultations are provided by doctors and other healthcare professionals from a range of specialities. Children can receive professional medical advice in a familiar environment, while their parents do not have to travel long distances to reach the specialist they need. <\/p>\n\n

A timely consultation can help identify potential health concerns, provide guidance on the next steps and, where necessary, ensure that further examinations or treatment begin as soon as possible. This is especially important during a child\u2019s development, when difficulties related to vision, hearing, mobility, breathing or other aspects of health may affect their wellbeing, education and everyday life. <\/p>\n\n

Collective and Measurable Impact<\/h2>\n\n

The work of the Children\u2019s Care Mobile is made possible by the involvement of donors, partners, doctors, municipalities, schools, social services and our team. Everyone has a role in helping mobile healthcare services reach the children who need them. <\/p>\n\n

Since 2021, the Children\u2019s Care Mobile has provided 72,558 medical specialist consultations during its visits. From 2022 to the end of August 2026, 20,003 children received help. <\/p>\n\n

These figures demonstrate the scale of our collective effort, while also reflecting the practical support provided to families. They represent opportunities for children to receive vision checks and consultations with neurologists, allergists, physiotherapists and other specialists. They give parents access to professional advice and a clearer understanding of their child\u2019s health. They also help identify potential health concerns before they significantly affect a child\u2019s everyday life. <\/p>\n\n

Charity as a Long-Term Partnership<\/h2>\n\n

For the Children\u2019s Care Mobile to continue making regular visits, it needs consistent and reliable support. Donations help cover transport, fuel and maintenance costs, fund essential medical equipment and make specialist consultations possible. <\/p>\n\n

Regular donations are particularly valuable. Even a small monthly contribution helps us plan and maintain a consistent schedule of visits. This support allows us to coordinate with medical specialists, organise visits across Latvia\u2019s regions and ensure that our equipment is properly maintained and upgraded when needed. <\/p>\n\n
