On 10 October, the Preventive Health Festival will take place for the third time at the Fantadroms event venue in Jaunā Teika, Riga. We, Ronald McDonald Māja Latvijā, will also be taking part with our own stand, where visitors can learn more about the work of the Children’s Care Mobile and the importance of timely healthcare in children’s lives.
The Preventive Health Festival 2026 is a one-day event dedicated to preventive medicine, longevity and quality of life. It will bring together health professionals, doctors and technology experts from Latvia and abroad, as well as anyone interested in gaining a better understanding of their health. No prior medical knowledge is required to attend. The event is intended both for those who already make their health a priority in everyday life and for those who would like to take their first steps towards a healthier lifestyle.
Better Health Begins with Timely Action
Preventive healthcare means caring for our health before noticeable problems or symptoms appear. Regular check-ups, awareness of risk factors, and timely consultation with a specialist can help identify potential health problems early. This makes it possible to decide promptly whether further monitoring, additional examinations or treatment may be needed.
This approach is particularly important in children’s healthcare. Children are not always able to explain clearly that they are experiencing difficulties with their vision, hearing, posture, breathing or other aspects of their health. Sometimes changes can go unnoticed for a long time, even though they may affect a child’s well-being, development, learning and everyday activities. Accessible preventive care and the opportunity to see a medical specialist in good time are therefore essential to a child’s healthy development.
This belief is at the heart of our work with the Children’s Care Mobile. We travel to communities across Latvia to provide children with free consultations from medical specialists as close to their homes as possible. Our work helps reduce the barriers created by distance, limited access to specialists and a family’s financial circumstances. During visits by the Children’s Care Mobile, children can receive the specialist consultation they need, while their parents receive professional information and guidance on the next steps.
A timely consultation does not always mean that a serious medical condition will be identified. It may reassure a family that their child’s health and development are progressing well or help them introduce simple changes to everyday routines at the right time. This is another important benefit of preventive care: it provides families with the knowledge to make informed decisions and avoid delaying necessary support.
Knowledge, Health Check-ups and Conversations with Specialists
Festival visitors will have the opportunity to attend lectures by experts from Latvia and abroad, take part in panel discussions and ask questions of doctors and other healthcare professionals. The programme will also include individual consultations, a range of health checks and screenings, as well as demonstrations of the latest preventive and aesthetic medicine technologies in the Expo area.
2026. This year’s main themes will include longevity, peptides, hair health and oral health. Visitors will be able to learn how daily habits and timely preventive care affect the way the body functions, overall well-being and quality of life. The festival aims not only to provide theoretical knowledge but also to encourage active participation, invite people to consider important questions about their health and help them understand which healthcare steps may be relevant to their individual needs.
This exchange of knowledge matters because preventive healthcare begins with understanding. The more we know about our body’s needs and potential risks, the more consciously we can act. At the same time, reliable and professional information must be available in a clear and accessible way, enabling people to understand what their next step should be.

By working together with municipalities, doctors, supporters and the wider community, we can help more children receive the care they need closer to home.

The more accessible reliable information and timely consultations become, the greater the opportunity to identify and address health concerns at an earlier stage.
